Dark bird droppings should be treated as blueberry stains.
Bird droppings are not only unpleasant, they are unhealthy. Bird droppings can cause upper respiratory infections and histoplasmosis, a reaction caused by the spores in bird droppings. Birds in cages as pets and birds in the wild can leave bird droppings in the most unpleasant places. Fortunately, bird droppings can be cleaned. Disinfect the contaminated cleaning cloths or dispose of them completely after using them with bird droppings.
Instructions
Fabric
1. Pre-treat the fabric with stain lifter and soak in cold water and an organic laundry product with enzymes.
2. Launder in cold water with an organic laundry detergent boosted with enzymes.
3. Check the bird poop-stained area before placing garment into the dryer. If the stain remains, apply two drops of hydrogen peroxide and two drops of ammonia to the area. Flush the stained area with water. Launder again.
Upholstery
4. Mix 1 tbsp. of a high-quality liquid dish-washing detergent with 2 cups of cold water. Sponge the stain with a clean, white cloth.
5. Blot until the stain is absorbed.
6. Apply two drops of hydrogen peroxide and two drops of ammonia to the area, if the stain persists. Continue to blot with a cold, wet cloth and blot dry.
Carpet
7. Mix 1 tbsp. of white vinegar, 2 cups of water and 1 tbsp. liquid dish-washing detergent in a small bowl.
8. Sponge the stain with the detergent/vinegar solution, using a clean, white cloth. Blot the area, until the stain is absorbed into the cloth.
9. Repeat steps 1 and 2. If the stain persists, apply two drops of ammonia and two drops of hydrogen peroxide to the stain. Sponge with cold water with a second clean, white cloth. Blot dry.
