Remove Bird Feces Stains

Remove bird droppings with soap and water.

Bird feces that ends up on your clothes, car or sidewalk must be removed as soon as possible. The acidic material found in bird feces may result in permanent stains on clothing, damage the paint on your car or leave unpleasant smells on your littered sidewalk. Soften the bird droppings prior to scrubbing for a simpler removal process.

Instructions

Clothing

1. Fill a sink with warm water and 1 tsp. liquid laundry soap containing enzymes. Soak the clothing in the soapy water for 30 minutes.

2. Pour a capful of hydrogen peroxide onto a clean cloth. Dab the remaining stain lightly with the cloth.

3. Apply 1/4 tsp. of ammonia to another clean cloth. Blot the area with the ammonia. Rinse the stain with cold water.

4. Launder the clothing normally with 1 tbsp. liquid laundry detergent. Examine the clothing after removal and before placing in the dryer. Repeat the removal process if the bird stain remains.

Car

5. Fill a bucket with warm water and 2 tsp. liquid dish soap. Wet a sponge with the soapy liquid.

6. Wipe the bird feces with the sponge, saturating the stain completely. Allow the soapy water to loosen the stain for 10 minutes.

7. Wet the sponge and gently rub the stain. Rub the affected area until the stain is gone from the car, but be sure to keep the sponge soaking wet.

8. Rinse the sponge with clean water and remove the soap from the car. Dry the area with a soft cloth.

Sidewalk

9. Sweep dirt and debris from the affected sidewalks with a straw broom.

10. Fill a bucket with hot water and 1 to 2 tbsp. laundry detergent. Wet the sidewalk with a garden hose.

11. Pour half of the soapy water onto the bird droppings on the sidewalk. Scrub the sidewalk with a shop broom, loosening the bird feces from the concrete. Add the rest of the soapy water as needed to the sidewalk to finish scrubbing the stains.

12. Rinse the soap and bird stains from the sidewalk with the garden hose.
