Show your skill with a pageant talent.
Many pageant contestants are eager to show not just their talent during the talent portion of the competition, but also their American spirit. If you want to use your ability to sing, dance, act or create to demonstrate your allegiance to the United States of America, incorporate your music choice, costume, props and other elements to share your message.
Tap Dance
Share your American pride by preparing and presenting a patriotic tap dance. Select a tap costume featuring the hues red, white and blue prominently. Add some red, white and blue ribbons to your shoes, and top your head with a patriotic hat. Choose a classic American ditty, such as "Stars and Stripes Forever," and provide percussion with your feet.
Water Glass Music
Show your ability to make music without a classic instrument by using some water glasses, water and ingenuity. Fill water glasses to various levels and use them to play a patriotic song. By running your finger along the rims of the glasses, you'll achieve the various notes. Just make sure to practice beforehand, so that your homage to the United States doesn't come off as a joke.
Piano Performance
Tickle the ivories in your display of talent. Select an easily recognizable American tune, such as "America the Beautiful," and hone your piano playing skill, learning the song inside and out. Perform it with style at your pageant, dressing for the occasion in a formal red or blue dress, or selecting an elegant garment that features both hues.
Vocal Skills Display
If you were blessed with a good voice, use it in your talent display. Take an American classic, like "The Star Spangled Banner," and sing it as your display of skill. To make the display even more engaging and impressive, add your own touch to the song, changing some of the melodic features of the tune or reworking the rhythm to make the song your own.
Baton Twirling
Few things are as quintessentially American as a baton twirler. Make this talent your skill of choice at your pageant, dressing in a baton-routine-appropriate costume that features stars and stripes prominently. Set your routine to some patriotic music and perhaps even select a patriotic backdrop for your performance.
