Use Sea Salt For Detox

Use Sea Salt for Detox

Many naturopaths recommend the use of sea salt for detoxing, as it works to cleanse toxins from the digestive tract while supplying your body with many essential minerals. Sea salt detox is a great alternative to over the counter medications for gas, constipation and other digestive ailments, and works like a gentle laxative to cleanse the entire intestinal tract.

Instructions

1. Begin preparation for your sea salt detox at three days before, reducing heavy foods from your diet such as dairy, meat and refined flours. While this step is not absolutely necessary, it will increase the effects of your cleanse.

2. Use unrefined sea salt for your detox, as it contains more minerals than other forms of refined salt. Unrefined sea salt is generally a slightly gray color and clumps together more than table salt. Sea salt can be purchased in most health food stores.

3. Mix 2 tsp. of sea salt with 32 oz. of warm water and drink each morning upon rising. If you have difficulty drinking the salty water, you can add fresh lemon juice to make it more palatable. Drink the solution as quickly as possible on an empty stomach and wait at least 1 hour before eating a regular meal.

4. Eat lightly on the day that you use the sea salt detox, enjoying soups and salads while avoiding meat and dairy products. Additionally, plan your detox for days which you can remain at home and relax.

5. Expect to have urgent bowel movements; though the speed in which the detox begins to work is different for everyone. Some people see results in as little as a few hours, while others need a day or two. Perform the detox for 3 to 7 days.
