Use Virtual Dj Cdg Software

Ripping your karaoke CDGs will organize your tracks on your hard disk, rather than on dozens of CDs.

Virtual DJ is a popular computer-based DJing program. It simulates a pair of turntables and includes proprietary effects and beat-matching features. One such feature is the ability to load and play CDG files from karaoke discs, displaying the lyrics in a floating window or on an external display.

Instructions

1. Download and install the Audiograbber application. Launch the software once the install completes. Open the "Settings" menu and click "General Settings." Use the "Browse" button in the top-right corner to select a directory for storing your files.

2. Insert the karaoke CD and click the "CDDB" button with the penguin icon to retrieve the track names from the Internet. If you do not have an Internet connection, you can click each track name in the main window and manually type them in. Check the boxes next to the desired tracks. Click the "CD" drop-down menu, then "Grab CDG tracks (Karaoke)." In the options pop-up, select "Grab to .cdg + Compressed File."

3. Wait for the progress bar to complete and return to the main window. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the storage folder you selected in the Audiograbber settings. There should be a pair of files for every song you copied, each with a different three-letter file extension. For instance, "Happy Birthday.mp3" and "Happy Birthday.cdg" without the quotes. Ensure that the file names are absolutely identical, apart from those extensions.

4. Install and launch Virtual DJ. Select both the .mp3 and .cdg files for a particular song, and drag them onto either of the turntables within Virtual DJ. Click the "Play" button on the turntable and the song will begin. The video window should appear automatically.
