Instructions

Strip Car Paint

1. Prep your car by covering the glass and any other areas that you don’t want to strip paint from with butcher’s paper. Secure this paper with masking tape.

2. Set up your sandblaster. This will usually involve pouring sand into a sand tank, hooking up the sandblaster to an air compressor and plugging in the setup.

3. Sandblast your car body using smooth sweeps across the surface. Do not keep the sandblaster wand pointed at the same are for too long or you will create a divot or hole. If you are working on getting a specific piece of paint off of the car sweep across the paint over and over until the paint is gone.

4. Use sandpaper to remove any small section of paint that your sandblaster missed, or to get the paint around delicate areas. To remove paint from creases and divots, wrap the sandpaper around the end of a Philip’s head screwdriver or the tip of a butter knife and use this set up to get the sandpaper into the crevices to remove the paint.
