What To Write In A Thank You Card

Thank You Card

Writing a thank you card is a polite way to tell someone we appreciate something he or she has done for us. It is proper etiquette to send a card after you receive a gift or receive a favor. It makes the giver feel special, and it keeps you connected in a positive way. There are a few, specific features you need to include in a thank you card. Read below to find the proper features to include in your card.

Greeting

The card needs to start with a greeting like "Dear Cousin Rebecca." As simple as this is, it is often forgotten in thank you cards. Use of the name directs the card to the correct person. It needs to be at the very beginning, followed by a comma.

Body

After opening the thank you card by recognizing the person's name, express your appreciation. Tell them how happy you are with the gift, favor, etc. They will be happy to find that you like what they gave you.

Continue by reflecting on how you've used the gift, or how what they did has helped you. This will let them know their generosity didn't go to waste.

Themorningnews.org suggests that you should mention the past, or allude to the future. If you choose to mention something that happened in the past, pick a positive moment, such as a party or an event you both enjoyed. When alluding to the future, let them know you look forward to hearing from them again.

Closing

In the closing, it's best to use "Sincerely" or "Love," followed by your name. This ends the card and lets the reader knows who the thank you card is from.
