Remove Car Wax From A Bumper

Car wax is a product that is applied to the body of your car to add sheen, but it can actually make your car look worse if you accidentally apply it to other areas. If car wax gets onto your bumper, it can harden and dry into a stubborn stain. Unfortunately, you cannot simply scrape off the wax, or you could permanently scratch your bumper. You will have to soften the wax using a nonabrasive product that won't damage your bumper and use a gentle removal method.

Instructions

1. Apply a thin coat of car detailing spray onto the wax spot on your car bumper. Rub the spray onto the wax with a terry cloth towel to help loosen the dried wax.

2. Spray the car detailer onto a cotton swab. Wipe the cotton swab around any wax that dried in any edges or crevices on your bumper that you cannot reach with a towel.

3. Add enough creamy peanut butter into a small bowl to cover the wax area if the stain does not come off with the detailing spray. Place the bowl in your microwave for about 30 seconds or until the peanut butter is completely warmed through.

4. Stick the bristles of an old toothbrush into the warm peanut butter. Scrub the wax stain gently with the brush--the oil from the peanuts will help soften the wax without scratching your bumper, according to Popular Mechanics Magazine. (See References)

5. Spray the bumper with a light misting of detailing spray. Smooth away the peanut butter and the loosened car wax with the terry cloth towel, then let the bumper dry.
