Write A Research Report On A Person

Writing a research report on a person can be interesting.

A research report on a person should cover the significant events in the person's life as well as how he impacted society. It is important to research several different sources about the person's life. In addition to reading biographies it is important to learn about the history and culture that the person experienced and include that in the research report. A good report will offer a fair and accurate description of the person's life and choices.

Instructions

1. Choose the person that you write the report. If this is for a school assignment you may have specific guidelines about the type of person you choose or the type of sources that you use. This information may influence your decision on who you choose.

2. Check out several books on that person from the library. Biographies and autobiographies are a good place to start reading.

3. Research the time period and the area where the person grew up and lived during their life. This allows you to understand the things that influenced him and include that information in the report.

4. Create a timeline of events in the person's life. These should be milestones that you learned about in your reading. Additionally you may want to include major historical events if they affected the person's life in any way.

5. Outline your report using the timeline. Most reports are written in chronological order, but some introductions include why the person is important or famous.

6. Write the report following the outline. As you share stories and events be sure to cite the sources that gave you the information as you go along.

7. Type up a Works Cited page following the format that your teacher provides. Most Works Cited pages include the name and publication dates of the books, as well as the author's name.

8. Proofread your paper by reading it aloud or have a friend look it over for you.
