Talent Ideas For A High School Beauty Pageant

Dance is a popular talent choice for high school pageants.

High school beauty pageants can be just as competitive as professional pageants; and require adequate preparation. One area that typically creates nerves, is deciding on a performance for the competition. One key thing to remember -- when choosing a talent to put on display -- is to make sure you choose something you can do with great ease in front of many people. Depending on the rules governing your particular pageant, there are several ideas from which to choose.

Musical Instruments

By high school, as a musician, you will likely have years of study, practice and performance behind you. If you play several instruments -- or are debating among other talents -- think about elegance in presentation. Choose a piece of music that is challenging; but one that you know you can nail come pageant-night. Don't choose a song so difficult that it causes you to make mistakes, even during practice.

Vocals

If you have a good set of pipes, go ahead and show-off your singing abilities. Consider working with your vocal teacher on the song choice. Don't choose a piece that is played too high or low for your abilities. Select a song with a message that fits the occasion.

Dance

Dancing is another solid choice. There is no shortage of styles you can use to showcase your talent. Again, select the genre that you are most comfortable with, and that best represents your personality. Think about your audience and the judges when preparing your dance. Do not perform any moves that the judges might consider inappropriate.

Monologue

The monologue is a great choice for someone who can't dance or sing. You can choose a dramatic piece from a well-known play or movie; or write a short script about your own high school experience. If you're funny, pick a piece that showcases your humor. You may even score points for originality!
