Write Lowercase Letters H Through P In Calligraphy

The word Calligraphy means "beautiful writing." There are several different styles of letters and each style can be made by holding the pen in different positions. The most popular style is Italic Minuscules. Follow these steps to learn about writing the lowercase letters h through p using calligraphy.


Instructions


1. Start with the letter "h." Place the pen on the paper, pull down to make a line, go back up, pulling the pen right to make a small arch. Then pull it down even with the bottom of the first line and pull up and right to make a small tail. Put the pen at the top of the first line and pull to the right to make a small flag. Next make the "i." Place the pen on the paper, make a small flag to the right before pulling the pen down and around to the right to make a small tail. Put the pen above the line and make a small dot.


2. Write the letter "j." Place the pen on the paper, pull it to the right to make a small flag, then pull it down. Put the pen in front of where you stopped and pull it to the right to connect with the "j." Place the pen above the letter and make a small dot. Make the letter "k." Put the pen on the paper and pull down, then go up and make a half circle to the right. Next pull the pen a toward the right then up to make the "k." Place the pen at the top of the line and pull it toward the right to make a little flag.


3. Write the "l." Put the pen on the paper and pull it down then to the right to make a small line. Place the pen at the top of the line and pull it to the right to make a small flag. Make the letter "m." Put the pen on the paper, pull it to the right to make a small flag, then pull it down. Go back up and to the right to make a small arch, then down even with the first line. Do another small arch to the right, down and make a small line to the right, to finish the "m."


4. Complete the "n" next. Place the pen on the paper, make a small flag to the right and pull the pen down to make the first line. Pull the pen up, around to the right, down and make a small line to the right to finish the "n." Make the "o." Place the pen on the paper and make a half circle towards the left. Put the pen where the "o" starts and make a half circle to the right to finish the "o." Be sure the lines touch.


5. Write the letter "p." Place the pen on the paper, pull to the right to make a small flag, then straight down and make a small curve. Put the pen just to the left of the curve, where you ended and pull to the right, connecting it to the curve. Place the pen half way down the line and make a half circle, then put the pen where the circle started and pull it to the right to close the "p."
