Write Capital Letters "Q" Through "Z" In Calligraphy

Write Capital Letters "Q" Through "Z" in Calligraphy

Calligraphy is the art of making beautiful letters. Although each letter looks unique, you will repeat many of the same pen strokes for different letters. Follow these steps and you'll be able to write capital letters "Q" through "Z" in Western calligraphy.

Instructions

Write a Capital

1. Hold the calligraphy pen so that it the tip of your calligraphy pen is at a 45 degree angle from a horizontal line.

2. Start at the top and make a circle.

3. Place the pen inside the lower right of your circle and draw a long tail from the inside of the circle to the right.

Produce Capital

4. Pull the pen from the top line of the paper downward. As you approach the bottom line, trail the pen line to the left. This is the straight line of the capital letter "R" or "T."

5. Put the pen on the paper near the top, a little to the left and below where you started your line in Step 1 of this Section. Make a small upsweeping motion to the top line.

6. Write an "R" by continuing the line in Step 3 farther to the right. Make a curve that looks like a backwards lowercase C. You will intersect the middle of line you made in Step 1. When you do, move your pen back to the right and down. Finish the capital "R" by trailing off the tail to the right.

7. Make a calligraphy "T" by continuing the line from Step 3. Extend that line to the right so that your mark looks as if it is crossing the line you made in Step 1.

Create Capital Letters

8. Write a capital "S" or a capital "Z."

9. Add a little flourish at the starting point of your "S" or "Z." Hold your pen at the same angle, and begin at the top point of your "S" or "Z." Pull the pen upward and to the right.

10. Put a calligraphy mark, like the one you made in Step 2, at the bottom of your "S." Place your pen a little below the point on the bottom of your "S" or "Z." Make an upsweeping motion and connect it to the bottom point of your "S" or "Z."

Learn to Write Capital

11. Place the calligraphy pen on the paper, just below the top line, and pull the pen upward.

12. Draw a sloped mark from the top line to the bottom. This line will start where you stopped your mark in Step 1. Pull the pen down as if you were making a "U." Stop when you reach the bottom line.

13. Finish the calligraphy capital "U." Start at the top of the paper to the right of your first line. Pull the calligraphy pen straight down. When you reach the bottom line, pull the pen off to the right to make a short calligraphy mark.

14. Make the capital "U" into a capital "Y." After you complete all the steps to write a "U," pull the last calligraphy mark below the bottom line, and move the line to the left.

Inscribe a Capital

15. Start the capital letters "X, "V" and "W." Place the pen just below the top line. Make a sweeping motion up to the top line. Curve the line downward once you hit the top rule of the calligraphy paper.

16. Finish a calligraphy "X." Place the pen on the top line to the right of the line you drew in Step 1. Draw a straight diagonal line from this line to the bottom. Make sure you intersect the first line in the middle.

17.Draw a calligraphy "V." Do this by following the same steps as you did in writing an "X." Instead of intersection the line, continue the line straight down to connect it to the point on the bottom line.

18. Write a capital calligraphy "W" by repeating the process for writing a V twice.
