Stepbystep For Paint Romantic Roses

Create the look of romance in a painting with rose flowers and single petals.

Roses are one of the most recognized flowers, often prominent at weddings and for holidays and special occasions, such as Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. The rose is considered the traditional symbol of love and romance, and you can create a romantic painting with roses by incorporating not only the actual rose flowers but also loose petals. To create this unique painting, you must use the right supplies along with proper painting techniques.

Instructions

1. Dip a paintbrush into the red paint and remove any excess paint from the brush before moving it to a piece of art paper.

2. Press the tip of the brush where the center of the first rose should be, and maintain a fluid connection with the surface as you encircle the flower slowly with short, angled lines. Continue this motion around, leaving spaces in between the lines, until you reach the desired size of flower. Repeat over the lines a few times with additional red paint to darken the color; this will show definition between the petals. You should be left with a diamond-shaped perimeter to the flower, with the tips of the petals slightly curved over for a properly proportioned rose.

3. Paint in the bare areas of the flower between the lines with more red paint.

4. Dip a paintbrush into the green paint and paint a small, "U" shape directly underneath the flower. Color it in with additional green paint and add a long, slender line extending down from the bottom center of the shape to create a stem. Depending on the placement of the flower, you may want to add a longer or shorter stem, or have the stem drape off the side or bottom of the page. For the most romantic look, keep the stem curved and thin.

5. Repeat this process to create several more full rose flowers across the span of the page.

6. Paint a single rose petal on the page by creating a solid, round, slightly teardrop shape with red paint.

7. Repeat this process to create several more loose flower petals across the span of the page.

8. Allow the paint to dry completely.

9. Paint small lines with black paint underneath each full rose and petal to create shadowing. Paint a small arc with white paint on the top of each petal to create highlighting.
