Write Thank You Cards For A Birthday

Write the thank-you note in your own handwriting.

Once your birthday is over and you are going through your list of gifts, you may find yourself wanting to send a thank-you card for the thoughtful gifts. Thank-you cards are a kind gesture that is not mandatory, but always appreciated. Thank-you notes do not need to be long or extensive; simple and polite is best. Keep the note to three or four sentences, with a positive tone. Thank-you notes are best when handwritten, and should be sent within two weeks of receiving the gift.

Instructions

1. Begin the thank-you note with the word "Dear," and then the person's name. If it is a close friend or family member, use the first name. If the gift was sent by a colleague or person you don't know well on a personal basis, stick to Mr. or Mrs. with the last name.

2. Start with "Thank you," and state the gift you received. This sentence should be short and simple. For example, "Thank you for the $50 gift certificate to Target."

3. Show your appreciation for the gift in the second sentence in a thoughtful way. For example, "The gift certificate will come in handy for when I go to college in the fall."

4. Write a third sentence that dictates your desire to stay in contact in the future and further build your relationship. For example, "I hope to visit with you when I return to my parent's house for the holidays."

5. Sign your name on the bottom with a pleasant and friendly closing. For example, "Thanks Again," with your first and last name. For a close personal friend or immediate family, it's OK to use some of your own personality. If, however, it is for a business associate or a person you don't know very well, use a formal closing phrase such as "Sincerely."
