Use Tracing Paper On Patterns

Use tracing paper when you need to modify the pattern size.

Tracing paper saves time, allowing information to be transferred from the pattern to the paper, when a pattern size needs to be altered. When choosing tracing paper, be sure the tracing paper isn't wax based. Wax-based tracing papers can leave markings on the fabric that are difficult to remove. When you use tracing paper, mark on the wrong side of the fabric only, and use light marking colors, if possible. When tracing or cutting fabric, always protect your workspace by working on cardboard or a hard, protected surface.

Instructions

1. Lay the pattern on top of the tracing paper. Pin the pattern or place weights on it to hold it securely in place.

2. Trace around the pattern with the tracing wheel.

3. Trace all of the marks with the tracing wheel, transferring all of the information from the pattern to the tracing paper.

4. Cut out the tracing paper to fit the correct measurements needed.
