Tie a Multifold Overhand Knot
Knots are an often utilized, under-appreciated part of our lives. Whether we tie our shoe laces, are into Macrame, love fishing or are going for a merit badge, it all involves knots. One popular knot is a Multifold Overhand Knot. Here's tie it.
Instructions
1. Make a simple knot with your rope in the same way you would begin to tie your shoe.
2. Continue to make circles around your piece of rope. When you tie a simple overhand knot, you simply wrap one end under the other and pull. Instead of pulling the knot tight, keep wrapping the cord around until you complete three wraps.
3. Pull tight to complete the knot. The "loops" or "circles" will bunch together, but this is the point, as it will cluster whatever you are trying to hold. While it's not the world's strongest knot, it is great in a pinch if you are for instance tying your boat off quickly.
4. Burn the ends of the rope and the center of the rope with a lighter. This is an optional step, which will make the knot stronger. The melting of the materials coating the robe will form an adhesive bond, which will cool and harden. You just learned tie a Multifold Overhand Knot.
