Cocktails with bright colors like purple are popular at clubs and parties because they are conversation starters. These mixed drinks often contain raspberry liquor, which is deep reddish-purple. Because the liquor its sweet and syrupy, recipes typically only call for 1/2 oz. of it. All of the cocktail recipes listed in this article will make 1 serving of each drink. When a recipe calls for a "splash" of something, this means to add just a sprinkle of an ingredient.
Purple Hooter
A Purple Hooter is meant to be done as a shot, meaning that you swallow the drink in one gulp. To make one, fill a 4-oz. drink shaker with ice. Add 1/2 oz. raspberry liquor, 1/2 oz. vodka and a splash of lemon-lime soda. Put the lid on the shaker and shake the drink until it's cold. Remove the shaker lid and sit a drink strainer on top of the shaker. Drain the Purple Hooter into a shot glass.
