In the world of art education, studio art is the process of teaching visual art such as sculpting, painting and drawing. This is a much more hands-on approach to art than a class like art history that focuses on the facts that surround art rather than actual painting or drawing. 1. Encourage your students to let their creativity flow when painting, drawing or sculpting. However, you should also teach them basic techniques to ensure that their experience is a well-rounded one. (See Reference 1)
2. Consider specializing in one form of studio art to be more effective in the classroom or community center. If your true talent lies in ceramics, then teaching that topic may the best path to help as many students as possible.
3. Use emerging mediums, such as video, to give your students a better understanding of what studio art is and what it can be. Compared to other classes, studio art is very free-flowing, and you should use this creativity to your advantage.
