Clean wax off plastic trim with rubbing alcohol.
Wax on plastic trim generally occurs after waxing a car when leftover wax is hidden in the folds of the trim. The wax appears on the trim as a cloudy stain. Wiping the wax with a rag might make it appear that you have removed the wax, but a few days later the stain often reappears. The wax has absorbed into the plastic with the help of the sun's rays. Apply a cleaner to soften the wax for proper removal.
Instructions
1. Wash the plastic trim with a sponge and warm sudsy water mixed with dish detergent. Rinse the trim thoroughly with cool water from a bucket or garden hose. Dry the plastic trim with a clean cloth. This removes any excess wax from the plastic.
2. Pour rubbing alcohol onto a clean rag and wipe down the plastic trim. Allow the rubbing alcohol to remain on the trim for 30 minutes. This gives the alcohol time to soften the wax, making it easier to remove.
3. Wipe the softened wax and rubbing alcohol from the plastic trim with a clean rag. Turn the rag to present a clean side for each swipe as you lift the wax and alcohol from the trim.
