Write A Thank You Note To A Future Motherinlaw

Thank you notes are designed to show gratitude.

Thank you notes are written when some gives a gift. When writing to a future mother-in-law for a gift she's given, such as a gift for a bridal shower or birthday, the note should be simple and to the point. Though she is a future mother-in-law, the note should only address the gift given and appreciation for the gift.

Instructions

1. Greet your future mother-in-law. A simple "Dear Mrs. Smith" is appropriate or use her full name if on a first name basis with her.

2. Give thanks for the gift. According to The Morning News, it is best to avoid phrases that are obvious, such as "I'm writing to say thanks for the gift." Instead, say, "Thank you for the lotion."

3. Express to your mother-in-law a nice sentiment about the gift. For example, if she gave you lotion, make a statement like "the floral scent is wonderful."

4. Tell her how she fits into life. For example, write a statement about how great it was to see her at the bridal shower and make a statement about the next time you'll meet her.

5. Give her thanks for the gift as a closing statement. A simple "Thanks again for the lotion" is appropriate.

6. Sign the note. Close the note with any preferred closing such as "Love" or "Sincerely" followed by a signature.
