Restaurants Near Ruth Eckerd Hall

Ruth Eckerd Hall is on McMullen Booth Road in Clearwater, Florida, approximately 18 miles west of Tampa and 18 miles north of St. Petersburg. The theater hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including jazz concerts and performance of the Florida Orchestra. Event-goers can find a variety of dining options with in a mile of Ruth Eckerd Hall, ranging from casual British pubs to Japanese restaurants.

Sushi is the specialty of the house, particularly the hand rolls, of which the menu features 25 varieties. A local favorite is the dragon roll, a combination of fried shrimp, cream cheese, asparagus, avocado and caviar. Baked and fried sushi rolls, tempura, teriyaki and other Japanese dishes are featured for individuals who do not enjoy raw fish. The bar serves sake, plum wine and Asian beers.


Shiki Sushi Bar & Restaurant serves lunch Tuesday through Saturday and dinner Monday through Saturday. The restaurant closes Sundays. Reservations are not required. Casual attire is acceptable. Ample, free parking is available on-site.

Grindhouse Bar & Grill


Grindhouse Bar & Grill is also in the Publix Shopping Center, around one-half mile from Ruth Eckerd Hall. The restaurant features a casual, sports bar feel with televisions that show live events, pool tables, darts and Foosball.


The menu features a variety of dishes inspired by the cuisine found in British pubs. Among the entrees are shepherd's pie, fish and chips and banger sausages served atop mashed potatoes. The bar serves more than 40 draft and bottled beers and offers two-for-one drink specials daily.


Grindhouse Bar & Grill is open for lunch and dinner daily. The kitchen remains open late, making the restaurant a convenient stop after a performance at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Reservations are not required. Casual attire is appropriate. A children's menu is offered as well as highchairs and booster seats. The restaurant features live music regularly. Free, on-site parking is available in the Publix lot.

Johnny's Italian Restaurant


A family-owned establishment that opened in 1980, Johnny's Italian Restaurant is on State Road 590 between Lori and Leonard Drives, around one mile from Ruth Eckerd Hall. Italian cuisine is the specialty of the house, and the restaurant prepares all of its ingredients from scratch daily, including its sauces and doughs.


A dinner specialty is the seafood fra diavolo, which consists of a choice of shellfish and vermicelli in a spicy sauce. The restaurant is also known for its chicken parmigiana and the lasagna. Beer and wine are served.


Johnny's Italian Restaurant is open for lunch and dinner daily. Reservations are not required. Casual attire is the norm. A children's menu, highchairs and booster seats are available. The restaurant has its own, private parking lot on-site.
